Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM

Canon RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM

Designed for Canon’s RF mount cameras such as the Canon EOS R5, the new Canon RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM is best suited for the sports, action or wildlife photographer who needs a portable super-telephoto lens. A super-fast f2.8 aperture paired with optical IS make the lens perfect for working in low-light situations. Advanced AF technology keeps even the fastest moving subject in tack sharp quality for the ultimate breathtaking image.

For an even further reach, the Canon RF 600mm F/4L IS USM lens has also been released at the same time.

Design and Build

Weighing in at 2980g the RF 400mm from Canon is the lightest 400mm f2.8 lens available for mirrorless cameras. Iconic L-series build quality brings the legendary heat-reflecting white finish, so the lens is capable of working confidently for long-periods of time, come rain or shine.

Professional Image Quality

The lens produces exceptional sharpness right across the frame even when working at its maximum aperture of f2.8. This is thanks to the use of Fluorite and Super UD glass plus the use of ASC and Super Spectra coatings.

Super-fast AutoFocus

Capture fast-moving subjects confidently with the RF 400mm’s dual power focus drives which provides a faster AF when used with compatible cameras. The RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM features a dual power focus drive system that includes a second power connection that allows the lens to draw more current from compatible camera bodies. This is then used to increase the speed of the USM for even faster-focusing speeds. An ideal feature for professional sports or wildlife photographer.

Superb Performance in Low Light

The Canon RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM is great when working in low-light. Its large f/2.8 maximum aperture alongside an Image Stabilisation system offers up to 5-stops of stabilisation and protection from camera shake.
