Sigma 65mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary For Sony E

An ultra-sharp, compact and classically designed lens, built specifically for the mirrorless camera systems. This short telephoto lens from Sigma features an aperture ring and classical styling that put the Contemporary range in an exclusive category of their own.

Part of the I Series Family

The Sigma I Series is designed specifically for the mirrorless camera system. The 65mm F2 DG DN lens fits perfectly with a Sony full-frame mirrorless camera or a full-frame mirrorless camera under the L-Mount Alliance.

Optical Performance

Advanced processing technology combined with the latest optical design gives the 65mm F2 DG DN its superb optical performance as well as its compact size. Medium telephoto lenses tend to suffer from axial chromatic aberration, but not with Sigma’s 65mm F2 DG DN lens. It is corrected thoroughly with the use of SLD glass, allowing it to resolve extreme detail.

Anti-ghosting and anti-flare technology ensure high-end performance in backlit conditions.

Exceptional Build Quality

An all-metal construction, in keeping with the rest of the I Series, ensures the lens is durable. Precision cut aluminium parts add to the durability of the lens whilst adding a sleek and classic feel. The design and build of this lens has taken inspiration from Sigma’s cine lens line-up for professional filmmakers, so you know you’ll be working with a high-end product.

Functional Features

Despite being exceptionally compact and lightweight for an all-metal, full-frame, wide-aperture lens, the 65mm from Sigma has impressive functionality. A smooth aperture ring allows the photographer to alter the aperture settings directly from the lens rather than through the camera, should they wish. Sigma has incorporated a sound-deadening grease that aids the smooth operation of the aperture ring.

The lens comes with a regular plastic lens cap along with a metal cap that will attach to the front of the lens magnetically.

Who is the 65mm Lens for?

Thanks to the control of spherical aberration and a 9-blade rounded design, the 65mm F2 lens can create beautifully rounded and soft bokeh, making this lens perfect for portraits. The medium telephoto focal length produces great compression so is ideal for really isolating your subject. That’s not to say that the lens can’t be used for a creative edge on street photography or even capture fast-moving birds.

Natalie ★★★★★

The bokeh from this lens is incredibly smooth for a compact prime, and it’s become my go-to for portrait work. Pairing it with my camera body feels perfectly balanced, and the manual focus ring has just the right amount of dampening.

John ★★★★★

I was pleasantly surprised by how sharp the detail is even when shooting wide open, and the compact build makes it easy to carry around for street photography. The manual aperture ring clicks nicely, giving a satisfying tactile feel that I've come to appreciate.

Evelyn D. ★★★★★

The autofocus is snappy and silent, which matters when I’m shooting close-ups without startling anything. It feels wonderfully compact for a telephoto, and the sharpness straight out of the camera has made me trust it as my daily walk-around lens.
