Practical answers on SanDisk 64GB CFexpress Type B read/write speeds, 4K video use, safe storage, and everyday card care.
Quick answer
Treat the SanDisk 64GB CFexpress Type B as a fast, compact workhorse: its 1500MB/s read and 800MB/s write ratings suit high-bitrate 4K recording and quick offloads, but only if you store it safely and avoid unnecessary rewrites.
Why the 64GB size changes your workflow
Capacity is the practical limiter here, not speed. At 64GB you have less headroom for long shoots, so plan to offload footage sooner or carry a second card. The payoff is a lower entry price and a card that is easy to rotate through a disciplined backup routine.
Read speed and write speed are not interchangeable
The 1500MB/s figure is a read rating, which mainly affects how quickly files leave the card during offload. The 800MB/s write rating is the one that matters while recording. A fast reader helps, but a slow card reader or USB port can hide the card's read performance.
SanDisk 64GB CFexpress Type B FAQ
- Is 800MB/s write fast enough for 4K video?
- Yes for most 4K recording, because 800MB/s is well above the bitrate of typical 4K footage. Check your camera's required card speed for high-frame-rate or raw modes, since those demand more. Confirm your camera's card requirement before relying on any rating.
- Why does my offload feel slower than 1500MB/s?
- The 1500MB/s figure is the card's read rating. Your reader, cable, and computer port can all cap real-world speed, so use a reader rated for CFexpress Type B and a fast port.
- How should I store CFexpress cards?
- Keep cards in their protective case, away from moisture, heat, and static. Label them and store them separately from loose batteries or metal objects that could damage the contacts.
- Can I delete files on the computer instead of formatting in-camera?
- Format the card in the camera after offloading and backing up footage. Deleting individual clips on a computer can fragment the card and slow writes over time.
- Do I need to worry about the 1-year warranty?
- The supplied listing includes a 1-year warranty. Keep your order confirmation and register the card if the manufacturer requires it, so a replacement is straightforward if a fault appears.
